HistoryFrom Hennesee-Hotel to Welcome Hotel Hennesee Residenz Yesterday and Today The original Hennesee Hotel opened in 1953 during the construction of the Hennetal dam. Until 1997 the hotel had just 30 rooms. The original rooms which today have been remodelled to house our 40 m2 large apartments were typically for the time so small as to make it impossible for them to be en suite. The first floor still has 12 such rooms which having undergone extensive renovations are now known as our “Biker Rooms”. The Hennesee Hotel was held in high regard for its catering of dinner dances and the entertaining of tour groups. Latterly such business provided this privately run hotel with its only source of income. The hotel closed at the end of 1997. In 1997 the hotel was taken over by the Warsteiner brewery. On 26th October 1998 the extremely complex remodelling of the hotel began. The listing of the building to preserve its unique character as the only catering establishment of its kind in the area gave birth to the idea of bringing the whole hotel – both the old part and the new – stylistically into line with the 50s. Many of the existing details in the older section have been lovingly restored and some rooms, such as the Kajüte bar, have been completely restored to their original condition. The new extension comprising 105 first-class rooms, 1 suite, conference facilities, fitness and wellness centre, the reception and the ballroom were equipped to the standard expected of a superior hotel today, Here, too, features were included that are reminiscent of the 50s. We are sure that you will not only be amazed but that you will also feel very at home here. On 9th June 2000 the hotel celebrated its grand opening. The Warsteiner brewery transferred ownership of the Hennesee-Hotel to its subsidiary Residenz Hotelbetriebsgesellschaft Haus Cramer Service GmbH & Co. KG. From this time forward we have been welcoming our guests to the WELCOME HOTEL Meschede/Hennesee. We look forward to welcoming you, too. |
